Brady, Spikes full of praise as two prepare for reunion

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

Quarterback Tom Brady and linebacker Brandon Spikes may be in a battle for first place in the division this weekend in Buffalo, but that didn't stop the two from exchanging some kind words prior to their key divisional bout.

Brady battled Spikes in training camp and weekly practices for four years before the 27-year-old bailed for Buffalo, and he knows full well the talent that will be bearing down on him come Sunday.

"Brandon’s in a different scheme, but we know what his strengths are as a player. There are a lot of them," he said, via patriots.com. "He covers a lot of ground, [has] range. He’s big. He’s physical. He’s got those guys playing really well.

"He’s a signal caller for them, a captain."

Spikes had even kinder things to say about the veteran signal-caller, stopping just short of crowning the perennial Pro Bowler as royalty.

"Brady always has a chip on his shoulder. Me, I refer to him as 'Pharaoh,' because he's amazing," Spikes said, via ESPN.com. "I always respect him, because he comes out every year with that edge. That's what the great ones do."
