With Albert officially on IR, Dolphins call up James

BY EDITOR

The Miami Dolphins have called up running back LaMichael James from the practice squad.

James, who joined the Dolphins' reserve unit earlier this year after being released by the San Francisco 49ers, will take the roster spot left by offensive tackle Branden Albert.

Albert was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL and MCL he sustained Sunday.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pound James spent parts of three seasons with the 49ers after being taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He'll now jockey for playing time in a running back tandem that lost Knowshon Moreno for the season and has primary carrier Lamar Miller battling through a shoulder ailment.

James has appeared in 15 career NFL games and has rushed for 184 yards on 41 carries and caught five passes for 45 yards.

A two-time All-Pac 12 first-teamer at Oregon, James played in 37 games with 34 starts for the Ducks, amassing 5,082 yards and 53 touchdowns on 771 carries, adding 51 receptions for 586 yards and four scores.
