Pro-Bowler Landry recognizes fellow fill-in Albert

Following the announcement that Antonio Brown would not be participating in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 31 because of injury, sophomore wideout Jarvis Landry packed his bags for Hawaii.

The Dolphins receiver, who was fourth in the league in receptions and sixth in targets, will be heading out west in 10 days to represent Miami alongside offensive lineman Branden Albert, who's replacing Washington's Trent Williams.

For as excited as the young wideout is about the selection, he was sure to thank Albert for his leadership along the way.

"He did things for young guys like me, motivation wise, to keep me in it and to keep guys in it," Landry said via MiamiDolphins.com. "I think that was one of the things that I could say Branden Albert as a leader, as a player, as a man really changed my life, elevated my game. 

"No other man more deserving of it than him."

Albert: Under new coach, 'I think guys believe now'

The Miami Dolphins followed a season-opening win with a three-game drought that ultimately costed coach Joe Philbin his job. The team, however, got back in the win column Sunday with a victory over the Tennessee Titans under interim coach Dan Campbell.

Offensive lineman Branden Albert doesn't expect Miami to get lulled back to sleep after a victory this time around.

“I don’t think there’s going to be a lull this time,” Albert said, via MiamiDolphins.com. “I think guys believe in what Coach Campbell is doing. I think guys are way more in tune. I think guys believe now.” 

Monday, Campbell stressed the notion of players keeping their sights set on the next task.

“The challenge is now for these guys not to start patting themselves on the back because we’ve been notorious for that around here,” Campbell said. “We get a big win, all of a sudden it’s a lull the next week... [W]hen we come back in Wednesday it is 100 percent all about Miami versus Miami/Houston.

"... There cannot be any, ‘Yeah, man, remember Tennessee last week.’ That’s done when we walk in Wednesday."

Long layoff 'probably' contributed to Albert's hamstring

Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Branden Albert has never dealt with a hamstring injury until now.

Albert missed practice all week due to a hamstring ailment he sustained Sunday, and his status is in question heading into a bout with the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

Albert had a long layoff from the field following a bad right knee injury last season, and he thinks the extended break "probably" has something to do with his current situation.

“I haven’t played in 10 months,” he told the Sun Sentinel. “I’ve been practicing hard, playing hard, things happen. There’s no excuse. I just have to get healthy and help this team out.”

With Albert officially on IR, Dolphins call up James

The Miami Dolphins have called up running back LaMichael James from the practice squad.

James, who joined the Dolphins' reserve unit earlier this year after being released by the San Francisco 49ers, will take the roster spot left by offensive tackle Branden Albert.

Albert was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL and MCL he sustained Sunday.

The Miami Dolphins' offensive line play was a big reason they came into Sunday's game with a 5-3 record. Now, they need to figure out how to right the ship after losing arguably the strongest piece of that unit for the season.

Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert left Sunday's game with a knee injury in the second quarter and did not return, and early reports are saying the injury could be season-ending. The 30-year-old was signed to a five-year, $46 million contract prior to this season.

The Kansas City Chiefs may be 0-2, but the team is fully capable of stringing together some wins. Just ask Branden Albert.

Before arriving in Miami on a huge free agent contract, Albert helped a Chiefs squad that went 2-14 in 2012 break off a nine-game win streak en route to an 11-5 season last year. He was in the top 10 among tackles in pass protection during that time, according to ProFootballFocus, despite missing four games due to a knee injury.

Now set for a reunion with his former team, Albert, who's currently ranked the No. 1 tackle in the league by PFF, offered some words of caution for his current teammates on what to expect come Sunday.

A week ago, the Miami Dolphins offensive line was in shambles. Days after the start of free agency, however, things are beginning to take shape.

After signing offensive tackle Branden Albert to a five-year deal at the very start of the free agency period, Miami continued its quest to rebuild its line Friday, signing guard Shelley Smith to a two-year, $5.5 million deal, according to the Miami Herald.

Smith was a member of the St. Louis Rams the past two seasons, appearing in 24 games since being drafted in the sixth round back in 2010 by the Texans.
