Revis: Jarvis Landry 'somebody we need to focus on'

When the New England Patriots line up against Dolphins Sunday, it'll likely be cornerback Darrelle Revis opposite Miami's Mike Wallace, a battle of No. 1's on the outside.

That doesn't mean he won't have an eye on the slot, specifically on rookie wideout Jarvis Landry.

The 22-year-old Landry has seen a decent amount of work in this, his first year in the league. He's received the second-most targets on the team behind Wallace (82), and he has the second-most receiving touchdowns (5).

Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has turned him loose of late, as Landry's received double-digit targets in three of the last five games and tallied three touchdowns in that time span.

He's a weapon that continues to grow in the Dolphins' offensive scheme, and Revis has taken notice.

"It seems like he’s more of a focal point in their offense, utilizing him and trying to get him the ball," Revis said via Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston. "We knew him as a kick returner and now he’s found his way to be in the starting lineup on offense.

"He’s somebody we need to focus on and know where he is at all times and make sure we key in on him. They motion him in the backfield. He can be a gadget player, receiver-type guy. They move him around a lot.”

Landry has amassed 573 receiving yards working mostly in the middle of the field this season, the sixth-most among rookie receivers. He leads all rookies in return yards (713), which is fourth among all returners.
