The New York Jets have made the hiring of Brian Heimerdinger official.
Heimerdinger, son of the late Mike Heimerdinger (the Jets' offensive coordinator in 2005), will serve as the team's director of player personnel under new general manager Mike Maccagnan.
Heimerdinger had been entering his third year as a scout with the St. Louis Rams. It's his sixth season working in the NFL.
