One goal of $400M Sun Life renovations? More noise

Seats have started to come out of Sun Life Stadium in Miami, and a bunch aren't going back in.

With plans to decrease the number of available seating by nearly 10,000 next season, many fans are probably wondering what the ultimate goal is for two-phase project that's slated to take until the beginning of the 2016 season to complete.

President/CEO Tom Garfinkel told miamidolphins.com that aside from a fresh, new look, the team is hoping a more intimate atmosphere will help to get its 12th man more involved.

"We did a lot of sound studies,” Garfinkel said. "One of the goals was to try to make it as loud as we can. So we wanted the acoustics to keep the sound in the stadium as opposed to absorb the sound.

"With the roof canopy, it actually bounces the sound back down. It will be a very loud environment in here when the fans are loud."
