Seahawks GM: 'Back to basics' led to Harvin trade

Consider it a change in philosophy.

Tuesday, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider elaborated a bit on his team's decision to trade the explosive, all-purpose Percy Harvin to the New York Jets midway through the 2014 season.

According to Schneider, at least part of the move had to do with a shift in the team's offensive approach--alleged locker-room activity aside.

"Percy is a unique player, so you have to use him in a unique fashion," Schneider said, via the NY Daily News. "So, we kind of just got back to playing more basic: Run the ball and hammer it out, read-option. Getting back to a little bit more up field instead of horizontal."
