Hickey: Ex-Giants center Walton a 'positive addition'

J.D. Walton finished the 2014 campaign as the league's fourth-worst center, according to ProFootballFocus' grading system. But don't be worried Dolphins' fans -- looks like general manager Dennis Hickey has a plan for the soon-to-be 27-year-old.

The team announced a one-year deal with the ex-Giant Thursday, according to Adam Abramson of the Palm Beach Post, a move that will likely serve a dual purpose for the team's offensive line. Walton will provide depth behind the team's Pro Bowl star, Mike Pouncey, while also vying for the open spot Pouncey creates when he reclaims the starting center role.

Walton's versatility, as well as his time in the league, seems to be what attracted Hickey to the former Baylor star.

"He is a young, but experienced player who will be a positive addition to our offensive line," he said.

The move likely also spells disaster for Samson Satele, who started every game for the 'Phins in 2014.
