Wilkerson set to play out season with or without deal

Muhammad Wilkerson is in the building, and he'll be on the field this week for the start of training camp despite questions of a contract extension still looming.

According to ESPN New York's Rich Cimini, the star New York Jets defensive lineman is committed to going along business as usual this season if an agreement isn't reach by the end of the preseason.

Wilkerson is slated for $6.97 million this year. If the Jets don't lock him into a long-term deal, they'll have the chance to franchise tag him next offseason to the projected tune of approximately $16 million.
