Montee Ball's sort-of stint with Patriots comes to end


The New England Patriots released running back Montee Ball Tuesday. No one noticed he was on the team in the first place.

Ball, who was arrested Friday on tentative battery charges, was waived Tuesday, according to the NFL’s official transaction wire. Ball’s contract expired Feb. 1 after the spent the end of the 2015 season on the Patriots’ practice squad. He was never listed on the transaction wire as being re-signed.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, New England inked Ball to a futures contract at the beginning of the month. The team never announced the signing.
