Bennett, McClellin latest Pats' free-agent acquisitions

The New England Patriots continued to make waves on the free-agent market Wednesday, signing tight end Martellus Bennett and linebacker Shea McClellin.

Bennett, brought in on a prove-it contract to complement Rob Gronkowski, offers a potentially nightmare scenario for defenses that's reminiscent of past New England lineups. Whether he can remain healthy and not be a distraction, however, will likely be the issue with the 29-year-old this season.

McClellin, a former first-round pick, adds depth and a potential starter to a linebacking corps that lost Jerod Mayo to retirement.

Those moves came after the team picked up defensive end Chris Long late Tuesday.
