Last year, Mark Sanchez went into a midseason Monday night game against the Houston Texans without Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill.
This year, Geno Smith will get the same treatment.
Holmes is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring ailment, according to Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday. Hill, meanwhile, is not expected to be recovered from a concussion by the time the Jets travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons Monday.

Jets still trying to build depth at wide receiver
BY NICK ST. DENIS
In various parts of 2012, the New York Jets' injury-depleted wide receiver corps saw fourth, fifth and sixth-stringers lining up as starters.
Names like Chaz Schilens and Jason Hill replaced the likes of Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill, further hampering an already-sub par offensive attack. (photo: Bernie Zimmermann, Flickr)
If the Jets get into depth trouble again in 2013, it won't be for a lack of trying.
