Jason McCourty ready to sell brother Devin on Titans

New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty is at the end of his five-year, $10 million contract, and the 27-year-old is in line for a big pay day.

His brother is hoping the Tennessee Titans are the ones to sign the check.

Jason, who signed a six-year, $44.26 million extension with the Titans prior the 2012 season, is hoping he can convince his twin to head down south and join him in the Tennessee secondary for 2015 and beyond.

First things first: Devin -- a former Pro Bowler and a current Super Bowl champ -- will have to part ways with the Pats.

"I'll see what I can do. It's going to be hard to get him out of New England," Jason said via NJ.com. "You know how the business side of it goes. We'll see.

"If he becomes a free agent, I'll be doing everything in my power to try to get him to Tennessee."

Curtis Martin says CJ2K is still one of best in NFL

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Former New York Jets running back Curtis Martin is one of the greatest of all time.

The Hall-of-Famer thinks Gang Green's newest running back, ex-Tennessee Titans speedster Chris Johnson, is one of the greatest of his time.

"With things even across the board -- the blocking is the same, quarterback is the same -- I still think he's one of the best running backs in the league," Martin said recently, via ESPN New York. "I'll say this: He has as much talent as anyone in the league."

Devin McCourty: I'm a better DB than brother Jason

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

It's no secret that New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty is only half the defensive prowess in his family. And it's no secret that he and twin brother Jason are laughably vocal about their familial competitiveness.

So what's Devin's thoughts about his playing abilities when compared to his brother's? Well, we think you know where we're going here.

"It’s so easy. You got one guy who is a two-time All-Pro (2013 second team AP All-Pro and 2010 Sporting News All-Pro) and you got another guy who is just pulling on my pant leg for me to teach him a bunch of things," Devin joked with NESN this week, via The Boston Globe. "So I’m gonna have to go with Devin McCourty on that one. I try to teach him everything that I learn."

McCourty focused on football, not contract extension

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

He may be heading into the final year of his contract, but New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty has more important things on his mind than an extension.

He's looking for another win against his twin brother.

McCourty was at Boston Children's Hospital Tuesday to talk with doctors about sickle cell disease as he gears up for the second-annual "Tackle Sickle Cell" campaign, put on by he and his brother, fellow defensive back and Tennessee Titan Jason McCourty.

McCourty twins agree to interesting fundraising bet

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

With draft coverage inundating the majority of NFL news throughout this week, we're going to try our best to sprinkle in some non-draft stories to break up the monotony.

Like a bet that involves a defensive back dressing up like a mascot and signing autographs. (photo: Beth Hart, Flickr)

Such is the case with the McCourty twins, who are jointly hosting a 5K fundraiser in Jersey City, N.J., to help raise funds for sickle cell anemia research. Jason, a cornerback with the Tennessee Titans, and Devin, a corner with the Pats, will host "Tackle Sickle Cell" June 9 in Liberty State Park, and each has set up his own fundraising team.

Fitz sums up decisive pick: 'It was a dumb throw'

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Buffalo Bills held possession of the ball and a six-point lead over the Tennessee Titans Sunday with under three minutes to go.

Buffalo was looking to convert on a third-and-6 inside its own 40-yard line. At worst, the Bills would've taken a punt to reverse field position and try to hold off one last drive. Instead, Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick stared down Donald Jones on the right sideline in signature-Fitz fashion and was picked off by Jason McCourty.

Tennessee took advantage of the favorable field position and completed a seven-play game-winning drive to edge Buffalo, 35-34.

"I just got greedy in a situation that I did not have any business being greedy in," Fitzpatrick told reporters after the game, according to the team's website. "It was a dumb throw, dumb decision by me. Third down at the end of the game, game on the line, Chan (Gailey) put the ball in my hands essentially and I threw an interception. So that one hurts."
