Despite injury, Vollmer not expected to miss playoffs
Sebastian Vollmer's injury last Sunday may have yielded a collective groan across New England, but a sigh of relief followed Tuesday.
The seven-year veteran is slated to miss Sunday's season finale against the Miami Dolphins, but he'll likely be back for the postseason, according to CSNNE.com's Tom Curran.
The 31-year-old went down in the first quarter of New England's game against the Jets after he was hit from behind by running back Joey Iosefa.
Vollmer has started 80 of a possible 112 games since being seleceted in the second round of the 2009 draft.

Patriots waive running back Joey Iosefa
The New England Patriots announced Monday they have waived running back Joey Iosefa.
Iosefa, 24, was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on December 19. He played in the last two games, totaling 15 carries for 51 yards in the first before seeing just three offensive snaps Sunday.
The 6-foot, 245-pounder, was originally signed to the New England practice squad in October. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round out of Hawaii in 2015 and was released by Tampa Bay at the end of August.

Versatility name of the game as Pats promote RB Iosefa
The Steven Jackson talk may be on hold for now, but that hasn't stopped the New England Patriots from tinkering with their running back corps.
Saturday, the team announced the promotion of Joey Iosefa from the practice squad to the starting roster, a versatile back that fits Bill Belichick's offensive scheme to a T.
According to the team's website, Iosefa, who was signed by the team on Oct. 21, missed only three games in his college career and rushed for 2,218 yards. He also caught 60 passes and threw for two touchdowns.
The 24-year-old rookie was chosen over fellow back Montee Ball, who was signed by the Pats earlier this week.
As it stands, Brandon Bolden will continue to act as the team's first-string back, with James White as his backup.
