Bills president: Viral videos don't reflect fanbase

Not-so-subtle fondling in the stands, jumping into fires, alcohol-induced wrestling matches, etc.

Buffalo Bills fans have given Deadspin plenty of material over the last couple years, and provided countless hours (?) of entertainment for which we're all very grateful. 2015 alone prompted the four-minute blockbuster, "The Year in Bills Fans."

However, the team asserts that what has been portrayed online in viral images and videos is not a good portrait of its ever-loyal fanbase.

"It's never positive when you see [videos] like that because it doesn't reflect the fan behavior of 98 percent of the people in the building, but that's the unfortunate part of the society we live in with technology and so on and so forth," Bills president Russ Brandon said Tuesday, via ESPN's Mike Rodak.

The team cites record-low fan arrests and ejections in 2015 as proof.

Bills break season-ticket record, to cap sales at 60K

The excitement of Bills fans for the future has finally reached historic heights.

After years of steady ticket sales, the team has snapped its single-season season-ticket record, according to President Russ Brandon, an accomplishment he attributed to the team's faithful fan base.

"It's exciting times for the organization," he said Monday via BuffaloBills.com. "It's a credit to our fans and their loyalty. We have the best fans in the NFL, and it's proven year in and year out."

The team has sold more than 57,500 season tickets for the upcoming season, breaking the previous record from 1992, when they were a perennial powerhouse.

Brandon said the organization will cap sales at 60,000 if they get that high, while individual game seats are currently available for only the team's matchup against Jets on Jan. 3.

Bills say 'no' to Toronto, Rogers Centre agreement

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

The Buffalo Bills lost five of six games while playing games at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, the last coming in 2013 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Apparently, that game was the straw that broke the camel's back.

After postponing the series this year following poor attendance and even worse play, team president Russ Brandon and Co. pulled the plug on the five-year extension signed back in May of 2012, halting any further trips north of the border for "home games" away from The Ralph.

Bills CEO on big-screen debut: 'I didn't get yelled at'

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

Can't wait until May 8 for some draft action? The movie Draft Day, starring Kevin Costner, opens Friday, and Buffalo Bills fans may catch a few familiar faces among the Hollywood elite.

CEO Russ Brandon makes a small appearance in the film, starring as himself and acting next to Costner during pre-draft negotiations. Costner's character, Browns general manager Sonny Weaver, is talking on the phone with Max Stone, the movie version of the Bills' own Doug Whaley.

According to Brandon, his debut on the silver screen wasn't a complete disaster.

Brandon: Bills committed to honoring Wilson's legacy

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Buffalo Bills founder and owner Ralph Wilson Jr. has passed away at the age of 95, as announced by the team Tuesday.

Wilson was a pioneer of pro football, having played a major role in the AFL's merger with the NFL and going on to maintain a major league presence in a small market for over half a century. The Bills won two AFL titles and appeared in four Super Bowls during Wilson's time.

Bills CEO and President Russ Brandon issued the following statement on Wilson's passing, via BuffaloBills.com:

Bills 'talked to league' about scheduling complaint

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Buffalo Bills will face a rested New York Jets team for the second time this season, and they're not happy about it.

Buffalo lost to the Jets in Week 3 after Gang Green had an extra couple days off -- the result of a Week 2 Thursday night game. This time around, the Bills will host a Jets squad coming off a bye.

Both Bills president Russ Brandon and coach Doug Marrone voiced their displeasure Wednesday regarding their 2013 slate, which extended beyond just their scheduling against the Jets.

Bills’ plans for impending free agents shaping up

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon and general manager Buddy Nix were pretty adamant Thursday about not wanting to use the team’s franchise tag this offseason, but they may be singing a different tune after the NFL Scouting Combine.

As it has in the past, Buffalo is using the Combine as a meeting place, hoping to solidify contracts before open season begins on March 12.

Bills in no hurry to name Whaley general manager

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Doug Whaley will eventually succeed Buddy Nix as the team's GM, but the organization hasn't set a date.

Whaley told the Buffalo News Thursday that his role as Nix's "foot soldier" hasn't changed, and new team president Russ Brandon said "there's no timetable" for Whaley taking the reigns. (photo: Matt Britt, Flickr)

"He's our assistant GM. He's in charge of all personnel," Brandon said. "Doug, he's locked into Buffalo for the foreseeable future. There's no transition time table or plan. Buddy and I will meet on that when it's appropriate, but we haven't discussed that at all."

'Nothing concrete' with Bills' two biggest free agents

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

There are currently 13 unrestricted free agents on the Buffalo Bills' roster; two of those in particular will be vital to the team’s success next season.

The trick now is figuring out how to get both to return next season. (photo: LostBob, Flickr)

The players in question are Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd and left guard Andy Levitre, two that are on opposite sides of the team’s spectrum but equally important to its future.
