Revis, Sherman engage in entertaining Twitter spat

BY SEAN DONOVAN

Perhaps no player in league has dominated his position in recent years quite like New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. He has, at times, handled an entire side of the field for a Jets defense that has been a top-ranked unit for most of his career.

With that type of dominance, having your name invoked by peers comes with the territory. But Revis is apparently a little sick of one up-and-coming corner doing just that:

The "dude" that Revis is referring to is, of course, Richard Sherman, the Seattle Seahawks' confident young cornerback who is known for his talk, and increasingly his walk.

The specific incident that triggered Revis is unknown, but Sherman was more than willing to fire back:

They traded a few more barbs after that, but the Twitter spat was more entertainment for fans than it was serious venom between two masters of their craft.

Revis is rehabbing an ACL injury that ended his 2012 after three games, and Sherman is fresh off of a breakout season in which he tied for second most in the NFL with eight interceptions.

There is no doubt that Sherman has plenty of talent, which was backed up by an All-Pro selection this past season. But he still has years to go to prove he is at three-time All-Pro Revis' level. Besides that, boiling a cornerback's capability down to a single stat is no way to settle this debate.

And to convey that message, I'll defer to Revis himself:
