A small monkey wrench was thrown into the top part of the 2013 NFL Draft with the New York Jets' acquiring the No. 13 overall pick in exchange for Darrelle Revis.
Now, three AFC East teams currently hold four of the top 13 picks, and ESPN analyst Todd McShay recently updated his mock draft to reflect the change.
Here are his Bills, Jets and Dolphins early picks (via ESPN New York):
8. Bills: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse.
9. Jets: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU. (photo: Crawford Orthodontics, Flickr)
12. Dolphins: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama.
13. Jets: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia.
Check out the rest of the top 13 here.
ANALYSIS:
Nassib and the Bills have seemed destined together from the start, with Buffalo's dire need for a signal-caller to develop paired with its hiring of Syracuse coach Doug Marrone and his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
As for the Jets, Rex Ryan has reportedly been in love with Mingo, and they absolutely need to take a top outside 'backer in the first round. Also, Austin, if he falls to them, would be tough to pass over given their need for offensive playmakers, though cornerback, offensive line and tight end are possibilities at that spot.
Miami still needs to upgrade its offensive line, particularly with a tackle, but the top three tackles will almost certainly be gone by the time the Dolphins are on the clock, and they now seem more likely to trade back than up. If they stay put, taking a top guard is reasonable -- assuming they're truly comfortable giving Jonathan Martin continued work at left tackle. Plus, Jeff Ireland has proven he isn't opposed to drafting interior linemen high (center Mike Pouncey).
