It's widely believed that marijuana use among NFL players is prevalent.
And regardless of the drug being on the league's substance abuse policy, at least one (and we're sure many) of the NFL's participating members doesn't see that changing any time soon.
"They need to just let it go. We're just going to do it anyway," New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie recently told ThisIs50.com, via NJ.com. "They just need to let it go.
Cromartie's point is understood. But here's the problem: It's still an illegal drug on the federal level, regardless of state legislation in Colorado and Washington and despite his, my or your moral stance on the matter.
So while the NFL may often turn a blind eye to its usage among players, it's not going to jump at the idea of promoting the use of an illegal drug.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said as much last week, adding that while the league "will continue to follow the medical research," it is "not actively considering" changing its policy at this point in time.
