Rex Ryan comes into Buffalo with little work to do on the defensive side of the ball. The offensive side, however, is a different story.
Coming into his third year in the league, quarterback E.J. Manuel will officially be in "put up or shut up" territory, and Ryan will now be tasked with overseeing the young signal-caller's development. Moreover, he'll need to find a suitable backup in case things don't go as planned.
The new coach spoke out about the Bills' quarterback situation while at the Super Bowl Thursday, acknowledging the hard work he has ahead of him.
"I think first off E.J. Manuel is a young quarterback who is going into his third season," Ryan said. "I think he can improve and he does some decent things.
"But we’re in the early evaluation stages with our roster and free agency is around the corner. I don’t really know who is going to be the starting quarterback and we’ll explore every avenue in adding to that position."
