Ross mentions Grimes' wife in his decision to cut CB
It was tough at times to ignore the comments being made by Miko Grimes, wife of Brent Grimes, during the cornerback's stint with the Miami Dolphins.
Apparently, the team felt the same way.
Speaking at the NFL owners meetings Tuesday, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross mentioned Miko Grimes specifically when asked about the decision to release her husband.
Per the Palm Beach Post:
"I think everybody knows what she represented," Ross said. "I thought it was best that the Dolphins move on from Brent and Miko."

RPTs: Alonso returning to AFC East with Dolphins
It appears Kiko Alonso is back in the AFC East.
According to media reports, the Miami Dolphins agreed to a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, bringing in the former Buffalo Bills linebacker, as well as cornerback Byron Maxwell, in exchange for draft compensation.
Per Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post:
The Dolphins have been searching for an adequate middle linebacker since Karlos Dansby was released after the 2012 season. Kelvin Sheppard started there last year but struggled. Alonso, 25, is still on his rookie deal and only has a base salary of $941,418 this season.
As for cornerback, Brent Grimes reportedly refused to restructure his contract and now may be on the way out with Maxwell coming in.

With Talib out, Grimes 4th Dolphin going to Pro Bowl
The outcome of Sunday's divisional championships has been most pleasant for the AFC East's top-tier players.
A Panthers win put two Bills players in next week's game, while a Denver win has given the Dolphins their fourth player making travel arrangements for Hawaii.
Brent Grimes, now a four-time Pro Bowler for Miami, will replace Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib next weekend, per to the Palm Beach Post.
He'll join fellow DB Reshad Jones, as well as offensive lineman Branden Albert and wideout Jarvis Landry.
Center Mike Pouncey was also chosen, but he'll miss the trip with a foot injury; he was replaced by Gang Green's Nick Mangold.

Bowman signing adds intrigue to Dolphins secondary
With Cortland Finnegan a recent release and subsequent retiree from the Miami Dolphins, the thought going into the preseason was that youngsters Jamar Taylor and Will Davis would be battling for that second starting cornerback spot opposite Brent Grimes.
And while that may still be the case, it seems they'll now have a bit of company along way.
The Dolphins announced the signing of veteran defensive back Zack Bowman Monday, according to the team's website, a one-year deal that's likely to add some intrigue to the team's secondary. Bowman spent the 2014 season with the New York Giants, tallying two interceptions and a fumble recovery to go along with his 19 tackles.
"Zack is a smart and experienced player who will help bolster our defensive unit along with special teams," General Manager Dennis Hickey said of the move.
The 30-year-old spent six years in Chicago prior to his stint with the Giants, accumulating 10 picks in 73 games.

Finnegan, Grimes ready to be Dolphins' dynamic duo

Last year, cornerback Brent Grimes signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins with the hope he could prove he was still an elite defender following a string of injuries. He did just that, ranking second among all cornerbacks in 2013, according to ProFootballFocus, and earning a spot in the Pro Bowl.
This year, fellow corner Cortland Finnegan is hoping to follow in his footsteps.
Finnegan was brought in after a similar stint of injury-plagued years in St. Louis, where he was cut only two years into a huge five-year deal. He worked out a nice two-year deal for himself in Miami, and he's now opposite arguably one of the best corners in the league in Grimes, if he can win the starting gig.

Cornerback Brent Grimes was perhaps the Miami Dolphins' most productive and consistent player in 2013. Now, he'll officially have an opportunity for an encore.
The Dolphins announced Monday they signed the veteran defender prior to the franchise tag deadline and free agency.
Grimes was set to hit the open market next week and was considered one of, if not the, top player at his position in the pool. According to Adam Schefter, his new deal is of the four-year variety and worth $32 million, with $16 million guaranteed.

Plenty of internal, external interest in Grimes, Soliai

If last season's spending and new general manager Dennis Hickey's most recent history in Tampa Bay are any indication, the Miami Dolphins will be active when the free agent negotiation period opens March 8.
The team can, however, begin negotiating with its own free agents right away. It's yet to be seen how active Miami will be when pursuing key departing members of its 2013 squad.
According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Dolphins are interested in bringing back both of their starting defensive tackles, Randy Starks and Paul Soliai, but have not yet made any official offers.

Brent Grimes happy to get drafted this time around

Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes came out of college in 2006 undrafted.
Last week, he got a second chance of sorts -- albeit in a much less serious manner.
Grimes, who recently wrapped up a stellar season as the Dolphins' top cover guy, was selected by Deion Sanders' team Wednesday in the first ever Pro Bowl draft for the annual All-Star game, which will be held next Sunday.

Coyle thinks Grimes sleeps with the football

Somewhere in the middle of the Miami Dolphins' free agency spree was the signing of former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes.
And entering the final stretch of the 2013 season, Grimes may prove to be the most valuable acquisition of them all. Minus the one-year contract he's on.
The veteran cornerback has guarded top receivers all season long and has yet to surrender a touchdown. He's tied for the team-lead in interceptions and has also been serviceable against the run.

Coyle likes Grimes' 'natural cover ability'

Torrey Smith hauled in six receptions for 121 yards in the Baltimore Ravens' 26-23 victory over the Miami Dolphins Sunday, gaining much of that ground while lined up against Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes.
According to ProFootballFocus, Grimes surrendered 99 yards -- the most he's given up since 2010 -- in coverage. He was also flagged for pass interference, albeit in questionable fashion, as most PI calls are.
Still, Grimes has held his own most of the season, and his coaches are confident in using him in a number of different ways.

Grimes, Clabo have no special intel on Falcons

For two first-year Miami Dolphins, this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons will be a reunion with the team they began their career with.
But both players are more focused on the game at hand than facing off against the team that let them go.
"I'm just looking forward to our home opener," cornerback Brent Grimes, who spent his first six NFL seasons with the Falcons, told reporters this week, via the team's website. "It'll be a good atmosphere. We're 2-0, it's our first home game and I think it'll be fun."

Dolphins' rehabbed CB corps looking ready

The Miami Dolphins overhauled the cornerback position this offseason but had a pair of likely starters coming back from season-ending injuries.
Both players are reportedly recovering well and will be ready for strong 2013 campaigns.
The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports that Richard Marshall, who missed the final 12 games of last season with a back injury, and Brent Grimes, the free agent acquisition who tore his Achilles in Week 1 while with the Atlanta Falcons last season, show no ill effects from their respective injuries as the players prepare for training camp.
Both players are reportedly recovering well and will be ready for strong 2013 campaigns.

Dolphins' Brent Grimes: Achilles no longer an issue

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland opened his wallet once again Saturday, signing free-agent cornerback Brent Grimes to a one-year contract reportedly worth $5.5 million.

He inked a deal with offensive lineman Lance Louis earlier this week after Louis missed the majority of 2012 with an ACL tear. Grimes was in the same boat, playing only one game last season after suffering an Achilles tear.
