Agent: Scott can still play, but TV spot too big to pass

BY NICK ST. DENIS

People in Bart Scott's camp still think the former New York Jets linebacker has it on the field. Regardless, he's found another profession.

CBS announced Monday that Scott, who spent last year on the network's "That Other Pregame Show" after not signing with an NFL team, has been promoted to a seat on "NFL Today."

"He could have had an opportunity to play [in the NFL in 2014], but this was too good to pass up," Scott's agent Mark Lepsletter said, via Newsday.

Scott joined "That Other Pregame Show" after 11 seasons in the league, split down the middle with the Baltimore Ravens and Jets.

As he updates his resume, Scott will contribute to other programs under the CBS Sports umbrella beyond his new post on the network's main Sunday program.

"Bart joining 'The NFL Today' is a natural progression from his outstanding work during his first season on TOPS," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said. "Bart brings a dynamic personality and unique perspective as a recently retired player providing strong opinions on all the hot-button issues on a weekly basis.

"We are confident he will continue to bring that perspective and those opinions to 'The NFL Today.'"

All that, and not one "Can't wait" reference. You're welcome.
