EA releases Madden bracket, adds old-schoolers

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

EA Sports’ next Madden release will be an homage to 25 years of addictive football gaming, and maybe even to an old school great.

The company released the voting brackets for its cover on Monday, and fans will have the opportunity to decide whether they’d like to see a current star or a previous one on the game’s quarter-century anniversary edition, which will be entitled, “Madden 25.”

A current player from each team was selected for one side of the bracket, as was a retro star for the other.

The Houston Texans do not have a former player on the old-school side (obviously), which blessed the 49ers with two potentials (Joe Montana and Jerry Rice).

Here is the list of players from the division, broken down by team:

Buffalo Bills: Jim Kelly and C.J. Spiller
Miami Dolphins: Dan Marino and Ryan Tannehill
New England Patriots: Tedy Bruschi and Rob Gronkowski
New York Jets: Curtis Martin and Darrelle Revis

To vote, you can follow this link. Round 1 voting began today and runs through March 20.
